Step 6: You are ready to purchase online; please keep the note of these measurements to hand

Step 7: Find the garment you wish to purchase on our website, please click on the tab for size information for this garment

Step 8: Using the size chart, with the relevant measurement you should see which size to order

Step 9: Our size charts take into account the requirement for some garments to be a bigger fit, such as overalls, coats, tracksuit tops etc., so do not be tempted to buy a larger size than the chart suggests

Step 10: You may consider buying larger than our size chart suggests for summer dresses purchased in the summer, which will only be worn for a few weeks in the Autumn Term, but will mainly be worn in the Summer Term

How to measure

A: Height Your child should stand against a wall, in bare feet or socks, with their feet flat on the floor and the back of their heels against the wall. Ask them to stand straight and look in front. Measure from the base of the wall to the crown (top) of your child’s head.

B: Neck to Knee Measure from the nape (base) of the neck to the bottom of the knee or to the length required for the dress/pinafore/coat.

C: Waist to Knee Run the tape from your child’s natural waist down to the knee, ensuring the tape measure is in a straight line. For younger children who are growing quickly we suggest measuring to the bottom of, or just below, the knee. For older children we would suggest measuring to the middle of the knee.

D: Chest Using the tape, measure around the fullest part of your child’s chest. For younger children, place the tape measure a few inches below their armpit and measure their chest there. For older children, particularly girls, the fullest part of their chest might be a little lower. Be sure not to pull the tape measure too tight.

E: Waist First, you need to find your child’s natural waistline, which is the narrowest part of their torso. Hold the tape around the waist and make sure they are not holding their breath! The tape should fit comfortably around the waist, not too tight, then note the measurement.

F: Inside Leg To take the inside leg measurement, ask your child to put on their school shoes and stand naturally. Run the tape measure down their inner leg, from their crotch to one inch (2-3 cm) above the ground. Try to ensure the tape measure is in a straight line.

G: Collar Wrap the tape measure gently around the base of your son’s neck. Put two fingers between the tape measure and their skin while you do this, or for a looser fitting shirt use three fingers.

H: Head Hold the tape around the fullest part of the head (mid-forehead) and measure the circumference of your child’s head

I: Shoe Size This will be required if ordering any socks, including sports socks.
